Hot Oil Leakage:
The Food Frying Fiasco That's Costing Food Makers a Fortune

Frying oil cooking at 160 degrees or more is a major challenge to seal or contain properly.
At this temperature, the oil and food particles create stearine, which gets in between the mechanical seal and acts like liquid sandpaper. All seals will eventually be compromised; it’s just a matter of time.
As such, there is always a looming risk of downtime and that is just the beginning of your woes.
We understand your predicament. We have experience in 27 countries providing pumps and providing specialist hygiene solutions for small and large food manufacturers across the world. We also appreciate the unique challenges and skill involved in working with large quantities of scathing-hot cooking oil - it’s no mean feat.
During the manufacture of large quantities of food that require even larger quantities of hot oil for preparation, it’s not a case of if something will go wrong, but when.
Commonly used centrifugal pumps like the solid block pump or long-coupled pump have their limitations, unfortunately. These pumps use an oil seal exposed to the abrasive hot oil and eventually, this seal becomes compromised and leakage occurs. Leakage could result in; a potential fire hazard, the risk of product contamination or staff endangerment. This would be compromising health and safety regulations and leaving the company liable to a fine and any number of unexpected costs and potential loss of income.
This means these traditional pumps require more periodised downtime for regular maintenance and pose the threat of more unforeseen downtime when their oil seals fail.
A cantilever pump solution would keep the entire oil seal mechanism safely removed from the hot oil bath, protecting it from the wear and tear of hot oil and stearine. Requiring far less periodised downtime and substantially less risk of unforeseen downtime.
The unpredictable effects of the hot oil and abrasive stearine on the seals of the regular pumps make it difficult to predict when these pumps may begin to leak. Therefore, they require frequent checks, constant vigilance and regular routine maintenance, all of which brings production to a stop.
No product means no income. This is the high cost of a high maintenance pump.
A lower maintenance cantilever pump produces more for longer periods of time, in a safer and more predictable way, with less risk of lost income.
The standard centrifugal pump has serious safety limitations. With just a seal between the blistering oil and the outside world, there is any number of worst-case scenarios that could play out. Moreover, these regular pumps may be made of conventional stainless steel but even this is no guarantee against bacterial and other types of contamination occurring in the oil.
A cantilever pump allows the seal to steer clear of the hot oil bath, making it exceedingly safer.
No seal in the oil, means no risk of leaking.
Furthermore, the superior electropolished stainless steel we use to make these pumps, create surfaces that are uninhabitable for bacteria and other contaminants.
Most established manufacturers know that reliable and cost-effective equipment plays a vital role in creating a superior product and a sustainable business.
Cheaper equipment often costs more in the long-term due to its inefficiency or unreliability.
However, superior equipment need not cost an excessive amount either.
The money “saved” on a cheaper centrifugal pump could result in incalculable losses due to downtime, contamination and loss of product that can never be retrieved.
A cantilever centrifugal pump is an investment in upholding your reputation, delivering on your promises of quality products and spending far less time and money cleaning up the mess of a spitting oil leak.
