Food & Beverage OEM in the New Normal

When it Comes to Hygiene There is ZERO Margin for Error

Thought Leader:

Challenge drives me. Enthusiastic, proactive and fired up. I like travelling and sports.

W hen it comes to safe and sanitary F&B manufacturing, all of Europe is watching. If anything goes wrong, there is no place for your brand reputation to hide.

Hygienic Security is key to a fully hygienic complete system. A CIP (clean in place) pump that is free of infection and contamination is the only option. You cannot compromise safety. COP (clean out of place) pumps take time, require more manpower and increased downtime, which costs serious money over time. Cheaper pumps that cannot be electropolished can influence the process and contaminate the taste.

I can speak with some authority on this issue because I have several years’ experience selling and consulting in the food, beverage and pharma industry. I am passionate about anything technical or physics-related and when I see an installation my eyes light up because I love to know how things work.

I’ve learned how important it is to get hygiene right because I know what happens if it goes wrong, seeing first-hand how customers with high standards are testing the product for efficiency, cleanability and potential for contamination.

Consider the following pain points, which I will explore further in my email series:

  1. The perfect taste - If it doesn’t taste good there’s trouble
A bad pump will probably influence the taste - the right pumps and design will achieve and maintain the desired taste to meet customer expectations, consistently. Failing to meet expectations (even once) is never good for business in the competitive F & B industry, whichever way you look at it.
  1. You don't want plastic and rubber particles in your product
A pump that could cause untraceable contaminants like rubber or microplastics could result in a recall, which can have immediate and long-term consequences. You need a strong mechanical seal and elastomers that seal correctly and are not eroded by the product.
  1. Corrosion or bacterial traps
Pumps should come standard with electropolishing, but this is not always the case. A smoother surface area as a result of electropolishing means less chance of contamination caused by a build-up of bacteria and more corrosion prevention for the pump itself.
  1. It’s tough to find someone with the right technical skills for the maintenance and engineering your installation needs
When something goes wrong with a pump, or it requires some kind of maintenance, the ideal situation would be a technical person on hand that isn’t going in blind; someone that understands your processes and has the necessary skills. Being a pump manufacturer and distributor and not merely a distributor can make a difference in this regard.
  1. Nobody wants anything high maintenance
Dedicated, specialised, certified pumps that you can install and ideally forget about should be the priority.

Do you need assistance with selecting the right pump for the right application? Are you concerned about your taste and providing a product that meets customer expectations with minimum effort?

Let's have a conversation.
