Donald O'Connor
Donald currently works as a Technical Advisor at Minova Africa, managing product development programmes. Formerly he was the CEO at Minova Africa, Fosroc Stratabolt and Dantex Explosives and held technical management positions at Stratabolt Products and Western Deep Levels Gold Mine.
He has spent his entire career in developing, manufacturing and applying products and systems to make mining safer and more productive. His beginnings were with rock engineering and seismic research on Western Deep Levels. His focus has remained on rock behaviour – in rock support systems such as bolts, resin capsules and cement grouts as well as seven years in the rock blasting field.
Outside of the mining sphere, Donald has an advanced an interest in Aviation to obtaining his Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence and Grade 1 Instructor’s Rating on aeroplanes and his Commercial Pilot’s Licence and Instructor’s Rating on helicopters. Donald is also a Managing Director of Aeronav Academy, based at Lanseria International Airport, specialising in flight crew testing and advanced instruction.
