The Interior Design Industry is Under Attack From Deceiving Discount Bandits...

And you will lose your commission!

I remember almost every single rug I have ever sold! This really surprises most customers who I may not have seen for long periods of time...

Tamara has been an essential member of the Gonsenhausers Fine Rugs team since 2015. She has vast experience in custom made rugs and the processes that go with it to ensure a perfect outcome. Her eye for colour and fine detail is phenomenal. Tamara is an excellent communicator and a highly efficient employee.

More “affordable” products can sometimes make well respected Interior Designers look bad.

And, to make matters worse, some rug suppliers may even begin to deal directly with your clients, compromising your commission. Some suppliers are even resorting to buying databases to connect with your clients, pulling your rug commission out from under you.

We nurture and value our relationships with Interior Designers with over 80 years of family history and experience in the fine rug and carpet business. Our first rug store, Ludy Gonsenhauser opened in Cape Town in 1938!

We’ve been able to branch out worldwide with our business, engaging with clients from Dubai, USA to the UK and the rest of Europe on the strength of the name and reputation we have built for ourselves and we take pride in our good name and mutually beneficial relationships. Sadly, rug suppliers who are new to the game don’t always care about maintaining relationships.

Impossible to keep clean…

As an Interior Designer, you appreciate that a gorgeous rug forms the foundation of a beautiful space. You’re creating from the ground up and in many ways, a fine rug can act as the canvas that you’re “painting” on. Other rugs may look great when they’re new but, unfortunately, that’s only while they are new.

With some rugs, the colours and patterns may bleed and distort by just adding water.

Nevermind the odd splash of red wine or the constant trampling of shoes and other elements that leave their mark. Surely a rug that will still look stunning weeks, months or years down the line is a better investment?

Some carpets just cannot be cleaned properly and a carpet with less than dazzling colours is never a good reflection on anyone. A beautiful space shouldn't look any less gorgeous in a couple of weeks.

The pain when it can’t be repaired…

Heaven forbid, but if a rug (and your client’s nerves in the process) begins to fray, so will the relationship you’ve worked so hard to establish with your client. A rug that is well put together is unlikely to unravel but it may get damaged by accident.

A quality rug should be easy to maintain and just as easy to repair in the unlikely event it does get damaged.

Besides, a gorgeous high-quality rug is more affordable than you think - we should know.

Fades quickly

When the bold and vibrant colours of a client’s new carpet begin to fade, then so will their excitement about their new space. Unfortunately, the sun, foot traffic, vacuuming and any cleaning products can leave some rugs looking like a mere shadow of their former glory. We pride ourselves on supplying rugs that continue to show their “true” colours for years to come.

The finest dyes, textures and craftsmanship can stand the test of time and are a worthwhile investment.

Ironically, the finer a rug, the more of a beating it can take over the years without showing it. If a client does end up having to get another carpet a few weeks later, they may choose to go directly to the supplier and your commission prospects will be compromised in that instance too.

Limited choice

It stands to reason that smaller and less established rug suppliers will have limited stock in comparison to those of us who’ve been in the business for almost a century. The truth is that if they’re selling to most Interior Designers as well as to the public, it’s just a matter of time before you see the same rug in several households.

Designers pride themselves on having a unique flair and creating one of a kind spaces, but this is not possible when everyone has the same rugs to work with.

Why not rely on a supplier that can provide you with any type of rug that your (or your client’s) heart may desire. A rug that would help you to better realise your creative vision.

Erratic delivery

Rug suppliers that rely on profit due to bulk-buying, or resort to advertising “sales” that are in reality not true discounts at all, can’t always be sure of what they have in stock. There is a limit to what they have available and when there is a limit to what is kept in stock then there is no way to gauge how long it will take for the rug you ordered to be delivered. Not even the supplier can be completely certain.

We have fine-tuned our supply chain and delivery systems over the decades and we understand how important it is for a designer to be able to deliver on the promises they make to their clients.

Choose access to fine rugs with limitless designs, sizes and colours for any purpose at almost any price point. You’ll be able to rely on our flawless four-step completion delivery process. With experience and a track record that can give any Interior Designer the confidence needed to make dreams come true and deliver on their promises.
